Year 2022 Preview
Christmas is over, and New Year’s Eve is approaching. I hope you all had an enjoyable time with your family and loved ones. For me, my thoughts circled around the next year over the last few days. Last year, I could not implement and achieve as much as I would have liked because of health reasons. This should change, and this change needs to be planned accordingly.
WIRE
One of the biggest and most important tasks in 2022 will, of course, be WIRE, or rather WIREless. While the system is already in place, at least in its basic outlines, the Powers and a further elaboration of the magic system are missing. Elaborating on these points will be a major part of my work in the first quarter of the year. The big goal is to finish WIREless as a quick start and some pre-made characters for fantasy and cyberpunk by April.
Only when the quick start rules are finished, will I move on to the more in-depth rules, starting with character creation. In the meantime, I also need to do the final character sheet design, once as a PDF, but also as a character sheet on World Anvil. By this time, everybody should be able to use WIREless in their own setting, with reduced rules. Over time, WIREless will expand, but my focus at this point will be the advanced WIRE-System.
Andrawyn
Usually I work on Andrawyn over the summer. While I hope the pandemic will slow down and I will find some motivation and inspiration for Andrawyn, I don’t plan for a specific timeframe. I will work on that setting when I feel inspired and expand Drachenruh and Celestria a bit more.
Especially when WIREless is at the point, I want to achieve this year, there are some necessary adjustments to Andrawyn, which will lead to a rewrite of several articles. I will need to design a system specifically for this setting, called Basic Magic. This system does already exist for D&D 5e and Pathfinder, so I will only need to convert and revise what I already did.
Calyria
My Cyberpunk-Setting is sadly something that got little attention over the last year. I hope this will change over the next year, with a lot of expanding. Especially technology and species are a focus for this world, followed by the social situation. Especially with my approach to Calyria, this world is very niche, which makes it difficult to have “loveable” articles within the setting. I decided I will not let this drag me down and will continue to build it.
With introducing Newport City during World Ember, I went an enormous step away from “it’s earth, but somehow in the future”. Calyria is another world, and that feels more natural and right, and will hopefully get some people who feel hurt by it away.
The way to hell…
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so they say. However, I hope that this post will be more of a roadmap for me and you to follow. I hope that this post will be more of a roadmap for me and you to follow. To keep you up to date, I will also write a blog post once a week. If there is time, I will probably start uploading or streaming videos on YouTube again. If that happens, I’ll let you know, of course.
It only remains for me to wish you a happy new year. Leave me a comment and tell me your goals for worldbuilding in the coming year!
