A big goal in the coming year is that I will not create a new world, but concentrate on the ones I am working on, anyway. In the last few days, I have tried to decide for myself which articles are important and I should therefore finish first. I will start with four articles for each world, which I will write in more detail than usual.
Andrawyn
For Andrawyn, the decision was pretty difficult. It is my oldest world, and to find these most important articles is hard for old worlds. Over the last week, I came up with these four ideas:
-
World Anvil Tavern in Drachenruh
-
Basic Magic as a Core Concept of the World
-
Soul Magic as a shunned form of magic and a taboo in Celestria
-
Ravenna is one of the two moons of Andrawyn, and a very important celestial body
These articles will mainly expand the magic of Andrawyn, which is also the most important feature of the world. So for Andrawyn, my primary focus will be magic.
Calyria
Calyria is one of my favourite projects, and it has been the easiest to find the cornerstones. As with my other worlds, I used TJs amazing 400 Worldbuilding Prompts for inspiration. I decided I want to focus on the larger area of Newport City and technology. The planned articles and concepts are:
-
The Fall of the Veil, which is an important concept for the supernaturals in my world.
-
Neuronal Interface is a technology that allows direct interaction of people with electronic devices.
-
Virtual Holidays are the only ways of travel that everybody can do, but they have their dangers.
-
Micro-Data Storage is a specific type of storage item that is implanted near the spine of a character.
In these articles, I will expand the technology and the social conflicts of Calyria.
Quarter 1 (January, February, March)
- WIRE Quick Start Rules
- WIRE Character Sheet (World Anvil)
- Calyria Introduction Article
- Andrawyn Introduction Article
I will take it slow in the first three months. World Ember is just over, and a lot of real life responsibilities call for my attention. I will work and focus on the Quick Start Rules for WIREless, so I will have a good starting point for play testing.
Quarter 2 (April, May, June)
- World Anvil Tavern
- The Fall of the Veil
- Introduction Adventure for WIRE
- Example Fantasy Characters for WIRE
The second quarter will feature the more complex task of adventure writing. I need to figure out how I put my own preparations into a written, publishable adventure. At this moment, I plan for a one-shot adventure with enough hooks to make sure Chronists can continue their campaign if they want to.
Quarter 3 (July, August, September)
- Basic Magic
- Neuronal Interface
- Micro-Data-Storage
- Ravenna
With Summer Camp, the third quarter will not allow for much planning. I will decide what I want to work on when I know the prompts for that event. Of course I will go for diamond, like I did over the last years. But I also hope that the prompts will be more suitable for me this year.
Quarter 4 (October, November, December)
- Soul Magic
- Virtual Holidays
- Example Cyberpunk Characters for WIRE
- Expanded Magic System for WIRE
World Ember will end this year, and I hope I will expand the worlds I am working on by at least 50.000 words during December. Last year I built about 30.000 words, so this will be a significant improvement for me. And of course, I will get more shiny badges.
What do you think?
